KPI in Reporting Service

Hi All,

How to integrated the KPI from SSAS 2005 to SSRS 2005 ?

So the value and indicator from KPI can be retrieve/view by SSRS 2005...

Any suggestion will be very helpful.

THX.

Hi

I have the exact same problem ...

But when deploying scorecards from Business Scorecard Manager to Reporting Services it is possible to get reporting services to show images as well as values. However when you look at the report in Visual Studio / Report Layout there is no give-away as to how the image is generated ...

A home-made syntax may be a solution as the KPI-value can be seen to be (e.g.) "=Fields!Advertising_comp_to_Turnover_Goal.Value". Exchange of "Value" with "Indicator" does not work however.

Any other suggestions?

Chr.

I found a description of how to make it work ... not for me however!!

Report Builder Model with UDM

postedTuesday, November 15, 2005 6:13 AM bymarcorusso

Today I lost a lot of time digging on this problem so a I hope post about this will save time of other developers!

I wanted to import the UDM into a model for Report Builder. You have to do these steps:

go intoSQLServer Management Studio

Known sp3a bugs.

Hello everyone,
We have upgraded to SQL Server 2000/sp2. When a service
pack comes, generally companies wait for sometime before
they apply. This is just to avoid potential new bugs and
find out some information.
My question is: Are there any known issues with SP3a? If
yes, what they are and whether its safe to apply the
patch.
Thanks in advance,
mzeeshanWe've had it installed on a dozen servers for awhile now with no problems. I
really think the practice of releasing patches has changed in that now they
are pretty thoroughly tested prior to public release. The problem with
waiting to install it is MS releases the bug fixes in the service pack once
they release the service pack and virus writers quickly write programs to
attach the patched holes knowing that admins are reluctant to patch the
systems right away. Not sure how to combat that but it is a problem
HTH.

slammer worm was created by someone based on a CERT
advisory. And, if I am not wrong, the patch was already
there but not installed by users till it became the
problem. Fortunately, we were spared as all our boxes
were inaccessible from outside.
The flip side is the creation of new problems generated
by service packs themselves. If I can recall, there was a
service pack (may be 4 or 5) with WindowsNT that created
so many problems that a new one (sp6) was quickly
released.
Its good to hear that MS is more careful now.
Thanks anyway,
mzeeshan

Known Issues for SQL Server 2000 SP4

Hi All,
I am looking for known issues for SQL Server Service Pack 4 before I apply
Service pack 4.
If anybody has URL or list of problems, please let me know.
Thanks,
MunirThe only issue that was found, that I'm aware of, was a bug where only
half of the physical memory in the box could be used by SQL Server when
using AWE on a 32-bit instance.
There is a hotfix for this now:

Knowledge Base-article - 829386 - Hotfix where to find it ?

Hi there !
I need to find the Hotfix as stated in this artickel Knowledge Base-article - 829386
(You Cannot Install MSDE 2000 if the Server Service Is Not Running)
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;829386
anyone know where to find it ?
You need to call Microsoft to get this hotfix, they do not generally post these fixes on web as they say these are not tested a lot. So when you call em they will email you the file along with the instructions. The kb article has the link to Microsoft'
s phone numbers.
good luck
dev
|||Yes, did you read the article? Since the hotfix is not fully regression
tested, you need to open a specific case with Microsoft in order to receive
the fix.
<snip>
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit
the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[LN];CNTACTMS
</snip>
Usually you will not be charged for the call, since the issue has been
confirmed by Microsoft to be a bug. However I would make sure that you
can't work around the problem in other ways (e.g. maybe starting the Server
service?).

Kerberos delegation don''t work with SSIS ?

Hello,

I have configured Kerberos delegation for several web services. One of the web service calls SSIS packages, but the packages don't run with the expected impersonate user : the package starts with the imporsonate user, but continue with ASPNET user (which is not allowed to execute SSIS and connect to DB).

If the web service is called directly (no delegation), SSIS packages run with the correct user. It looks like than there is an autenthicate issue, but kerberos is configured and web services can run from one to another with the impersonate user. The issue occured only when I call SSIS packages.

Here is a extract of the SSIS log file :

Any help is required.

Thanks in advance.

You might take a look at this thread, which discusses the issue.

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1044994&SiteID=1

|||

This post show workarround to this issue. This can help me temporary, but I configured Kerberos delegation on my application. This post explain why SSIS packages call by ASP.Net is considered as double-hop, but double-hop should not be a problem when delegation is enable.

Why Kerberos don't work with SSIS ?

|||

If you take a close look at the thread, you'll see that the problem is that the initial thread does impersonate the account, but subsequent threads that SSIS creates internally do not. That is why it doesn't work.

If you would like to suggest a change in this, you should create a defect/request on connect.microsoft.com.

KB913580 & SQL Server 2000 Problem

I applied the Microsoft patch MS06-018 (KB913580) Vulnerability in Microsoft
Distributed Transaction Coordinator Could Allow Denial of Service on the
13th (4 days after it was issued) to my dedicated server (at a hosting site)
running SQL2K SP4. Since then, on two occasions, I needed to reboot my
server (Win 2K Server SP4) and the server took exceptionally long to boot
and then when I finally gained access to the server SQL Server EM could not
find my server (my databases were gone), I couldn't access Internet sites
with IE, and I couldn't even open the Control Panel to look at network
services. In the Services menu, it just said mssql.exe "Starting...". When
that service was stopped, the network stuff all happened and I could restart
SQL Server.
Excerpts from the SQL Server Log:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)
May 3 2005 23:18:38
Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 4)
Attempting to initialize Distributed Transaction Coordinator.
(12 -30 minutes later)
Failed to obtain TransactionDispenserInterface: Result Code = 0x8004d01b
Could not set up Net-Library 'SSNETLIB'..
Unable to load any netlibs.
SQL Server could not spawn FRunCM thread.
So, it seems a Microsoft patch has screwed up my life again (it took many
long reboots, calls to tech support, many hours of production server
downtime) with a patch. I plan to uninstall the patch (if I can).
How would I contact MS to resolve this issue? Have others experienced this
same issue? If I uninstall the patch won't that leave the server vulnerable?
Thanks for any help.Hi Don
For SQL Server 2000 support try http://tinyurl.com/gp56z
as you are on basic SP4 you may want to think about upgrading to 2187
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916287. You may want to check that
SSNETLIB.dll is ok and that MDAC is consistent.

I went there, but everything looks like it costs money for answers. I
thought MS had some toll-free line for all security update problems (like
this) although I can't find it anywhere.

My previous server crashed, so I JUST did a clean install of SQL Server and
applied SP4 THREE weeks ago. I assumed that everything in 2187 would have
been included in the SP4 available three weeks ago.

I don't know what that means. Everything seems to be working with SQL Server
and my web application once I did not have SQL Server start during the
reboot.
Thanks for your help.

With PSS you will not be charged if the issue is recognised as a bug.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916287 is a post SP4 hotfix.

MDAC component checker can be downloaded from http://tinyurl.com/b9ua
