keywords context summary
on a web page.
Out of a large text how can a summary be extracted "including" also my
keywords? Like more contextual summary.
google has a fancy way of formating the search results and display a
keyword contextual description for every link in their search
any idea?
thxke
This is difficult. For text and image data you really don't have a good way
other than incorporating indexing services and generating hyperlinks to
seeing the data.
Here is an example of how to do this:
http://www.indexserverfaq.com/SQLhitHighlighting.htm
For small char (typically under 200 bytes) use charindex or patindex. For
larger amounts of data it is more efficient to mark it up client side.

Keyset does not exist
I get this error when trying to deploy a report from VS2005, when trying to get to the report manager page, when trying to do anything in SSMS with the report server.
Keyset does not exist (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090016) (rsRPCError) (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics)
Can anyone give me a clue what to do?
Hi GraemeH.
Have you had any luck resolving this?
I am getting the same error while attempting to deploy a report from VS 2005. Report Manager is running. The Report project folders deployed from VS fine, just not the report.
I am running XP Pro SP2.
Thanks.

After running DBCC CHECKDB the following error were displayed on
multiple pages.
Server: Msg 2511, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Table error: Object ID 1285579618, Index ID 3. Keys out of order on page
(1:384662), slots 75 and 76.
I read a post that suggested running DBCC CHECKDB with the repair_build
option.
Since we are a 24/7 shop I cannot restore from tape, because it would
take several hours.
What are the risks of running DBCC CHECKDB with the repair_build option,
and will this fix the problem properly?
We are still unsure what has caused this corruption, any body else have
this problem?
TIA,
-BenThere are a couple of things.
Firstly it is very intensive so turn off as many services
you can get away with, i.e SQL Agent
Secondly depending upon the severity of the error it may
result in data loss. Personally I would try firstly with
REPAIR_FAST, then REPAIR_REBUILD and if all else fails
REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS, its that option where you may lose
data.
If the REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS doesn't work then you will
have to restore from backup.
As for the reason why to difficult to say.
Good luck

As the error is in a non-clustered index, you can just rebuild the index
with DBCC DBREINDEX (<table_name>, <index_name>). Or if you want to be on

After that, investigate why the corruption occurred in the first place. You
might have hardware problems.

Kerberos
Want to know how to get kerberos to work
3 workstations involved
User computer with Windows 2000 runs I.E 6.0 and accesses a web page on
Reporting services server (Web Portion-IIS) running windows 2003.
USer is running a report that runs an mdx statement on a data server which
is also windows 2003
We included in the connection string sspi=kerberos
We also when to the domain controller which is windows 2003 and enabled
kerberos delegation on the web and data server.
We still get the below error
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get
Online Help
a.. Cannot create a connection to data source 'OLAP'.
(rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help
a.. The operation requested failed due to security problems - the user
could not be authenticated
b.. Thanks in advanceYou may want to try posting this to the

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=828280
however what I ultimately got tied up with is the olap service on the
analysis service machine was using a domain account which I assumed it could
since the above article talks about setting up an SPN if the analysis
service service runs using a domain account.
I ran into another article

which stated
The MSSQLServerOLAPService must be running under the LocalSystem account in
order for delegation to be enabled.
Once I changed to run under local system the kerberos feature worked.

KeepTogether not working.
I am using RS2005.
KeepTogether=true is not working both in the Preview tab nor when I export to PDF.
My tables still get split by a page break.
RepeatHeaderOnNewPage works as expected.
For a while I was simply putting each table on its own page, but this is such a tacky solution.
Any ideas?
As of now, repeating header on every new page is the only solution.

KeepTogether

but if anybody is still reading 18 pages deep, I'll share my workaround
in order to achieve Keep together on groups, I've been nesting tables within tables -- nested in a "merged cell" group header of the parent table
I create the parent table, group it on group1, then I merge all cells in the group header. Into the merged cell group header, I drop another table, and group that table on group2, and so on...
to make an example, say I have a U.S.A. report, that I want to show State/County/City details.
My parent table is Grouped on States. I merge cells in the State Group header, and drop another table inside the merged cells. This new table I group on Counties. I merge cells in the Group header here as well, and drop another table inside grouped on Cities... I can then say "keep together" on any of these tables
it's a pain initially, but once you get the hang of it, it seems to work... at least it has for me...
hope this makes sense...

What else has to be done for the report to be proper? Please let me know on this.

Keeping a group together over page break
I want to keep a group togheter. The report shows clients and projects, and
I don't want to have any "hanging" projects starting on a new page.
Is it possible to have the report do page break if it calculates that the
grouping is too big for the remaining page?
Kaisa M. LindahlThere is a group property called Keeptogether ( I think thats the name) ...
Set its value to 1 ( or true) and if the entire group can not fit in the
remaining space on the space, it will auto page break ...

The KeepTogheter property works on a table level. I couldn't find it for a
group level. And according to this page
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/rscreate/htm/rcr_creating_dc_v1_2bvp.asp
- it says when adding KeepTogether to a table, " A table group is not kept
together. "
I've tried it out, and it seems to be true, even with KeepTogether set to
true, groups will not break to be on one page.
However, I did some testing on the Edit Group bit, and turned on "Repeat
Group Header". So now it will display the group header on the new page.
Is there a way to check if a group has been split like this? Because if
there was, I'd like to do this check, and add ".. continued" on the next
page.

Keep track changes made in data
I want to create a page(using GridView) where it will detect changes made in the database and display it for Administrator observation. I've created a table name history for this purpose.
History
guid (uniqueidentifier)
dateCreated(datetime)
lastDateUpdated(datetime)
changesMade(varchar(50)) -- eg; dropdownlist
oldValue(varchar(50)) -- compaq
newValue(varchar(50)) --dell
updateBy(varchar(10)) <-- username of registered user
comNo(int) = foreign key for Computer table
History data will insert data whenever a changes made. Could anyone advise and direct me how to do this function. I was thinking of using stored procedure to insert the data. Thanks in advance.
You can use a trigger in MSSQL to take action anytime a change to a row (insert, update, delete) takes place.
|||I try to use trigger and get this error. Incorrect syntax near @.TEMP

END
INSERT INTOHistory(lastDateUpdated, changesMade, oldValue, newValue, wscNo, updateBy)
VALUES(GETDATE(), @.TEMP, deleted.@.TEMP, inserted.@.TEMP, updated.wscNo,SUSER_SNAME())
Then I found out that SUSER_NAME doesn't insert the name of people who logged in and update the data.
|||Why do you usedeleted.@.TEMP/inserted.@.TEMP ? @.TEMP is a variable, not a column in the table. If you want to insert into History table with values from different columns in deleted/inserted table, you need different INSERT command for each case (for different updated columns).|||
Or we can make a trick by using COLUMNS_UPDATED() function and EXECUTE dynamic SQL statement in the trigger. Suppose the dbo.Computer table looks like:
dbo.Computer (ComID,active,make,model,processor,speed,memory,harddisk,serialNo,assetNo,
opSystem,msOfficeVersion,invoiceNo,poNo,networkCard,ipAddress,ras,rasvpn)
Then we can use such a trigger:
ALTER TRIGGER ChangesTrigger ON dbo.Computer FOR UPDATE
AS
DECLARE @.TEMP As varchar(50)
SELECT @.TEMP=CASE WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&2=2
THEN 'active'
WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&4=4
THEN 'make'
WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&8=8
THEN 'model'
WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&16=16
THEN 'processor'
--<add other conditions here...>
WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&power(2,20-1)=power(2,20-1)
THEN 'ROUTER_NAME'
WHEN COLUMNS_UPDATED()&power(2,21-1)=power(2,21-1)
THEN 'ROUTER_NAME'
END
EXEC('INSERT INTO History(lastDateUpdated, changesMade, oldValue, newValue, wscNo, updateBy)
VALUES(GETDATE(),'''+@.TEMP+''',deleted.['+@.TEMP+'],inserted.['+@.TEMP+'], updated.wscNo, SUSER_SNAME())')
go
For more information about COLUMNS_UPDATED function, you can refer to:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/tsqlref/ts_create2_7eeq.asp
|||I got a new idea: if update to the dbo.Computer table will always effect only 1 column, we can get the value of @.Temp (that's the effected column name, right?) directly from system table:
ALTER trigger trg_test on tblTrg for update
as
declare @.temp sysname
SELECT @.temp=name FROM syscolumns
WHERE id=OBJECT_ID('tblTrg') and POWER(2,colid-1)=COLUMNS_UPDATED()
EXEC('INSERT INTO History(lastDateUpdated, changesMade, oldValue, newValue, wscNo, updateBy)
VALUES(GETDATE(),'''+@.TEMP+''',deleted.['+@.TEMP+'],inserted.['+@.TEMP+'], updated.wscNo, SUSER_SNAME())')
go
This is the error I get.
The name "deleted.serialNo" is not permitted in this context. Valid expressions are constants, constant expressions, and (in some contexts) variables. Column names are not permitted.
This is the trigger I wrote since I'm confuse with the use of power(2,20-1). What is wrong with the code. I change updated.wscNo to inserted.wscNo since wscNo couldn,t be updated and I actually don't know what should i put in inserted.wscNo because I want to catch the no of computer that changes are made.

|||deleted and inserted aren't available in that context (EXEC) because it's technically not executing within the context of the trigger any longer. Also INSERT INTO ... VALUES would be the wrong syntax for accessing deleted and inserted pseudo tables. You would need an INSERT ... SELECT. The trigger would also fail if you modified multiple columns (Only recording a single change), or multiple rows (possibly, depends on how you fix the problems), and logging changes that don't really happen (UPDATE table SET col=col) would show records being changed that don't get changed.
You would need to do something like:
DECLARE@.TEMP varchar(50)
DECLARE @.oldval varchar(50)
DECLARE @.newval varchar(50)
IF COLUMNS_UPDATED()&2=2 SELECT @.TEMP='active',@.oldval=deleted.active,@.newval=deleted.active FROM inserted JOIN deleted ON inserted.wsc=deleted.wsc
...
and at then reference @.oldval and @.newval instead of inserted/deleted pseudo tables, but that still has the multiple columns and multiple row update problems.
However, I would suggest a change in approach, which works much better. Design a standard audit table like:
AuditID identity int
ChangeType char(1) ' I/U/D
ChangeDate datetime default getdate()
(a column here for each column in your table with same column definiation - with the exception that all columns are nullable)
The create your triggers like:
ON INSERT:
INSERT INTO History(ChangeType,...) SELECT 'I',I.* FROM inserted
ON UPDATE:
INSERT INTO History(ChangeType,...) SELECT 'U',I.* FROM inserted i ' Optionally add JOIN deleted d WHERE (i.col1<>d.col1 OR (i.col1 IS NULL AND d.col1 IS NOT NULL) OR (i.col1 IS NOT NULL AND d.col1 IS NULL)) and repeat for each column to remove false change entries
ON DELETE:
INSERT INTO History(ChangeType,wscNo) SELECT 'D',deleted.wscNo FROM deleted
Then you can track every change to every column, including the cases where multiple columns (or records) are updated at a time. Although, it does make the logic for displaying what was changed a bit more difficult, it's not that complicated, and history tracking usually isn't done that often in most cases. This is also a pretty common audit table, so it can carry over from table to table and project to project. (Most people would call this table something like AuditComputers, where Computers is the original table).
You will have the problem where SUSER_SNAME won't give you the name of the person who did the change, unless you create a SQL user for each person that is allowed to make changes, and each connection by those users are done with their own credentials, but that's a different issue. If you need to propegate actual user information from asp.net where they don't log in to sql server with their own identity, then it gets a bit more tricky. You can still do it (Mostly) with triggers, if you define an UpdatedBy column in the original table. You can also enforce specific rules within the insert/update triggers to make sure it's being filled LIKE:
IF NOT UPDATED(UpdatedBy) BEGIN RAISEERROR('You must supply the UpdatedBy column when modifying records') ROLLBACK END ELSE BEGIN ... END
Deleted entries are a bit more tricky because you don't have the user information in any of the information available to the trigger when it happens. In that case, you may want to make a stored procedure to deleted records from the table, and insert the data into the audit table within that. Then remove access to delete from the table directly through permissions.

If I remove {} the error says that all the computer table column is not exist
|||remove the {}'s and make sure your History table also has those columns (wscNo,active,make,model, etc)|||Oh, I have to include the computer table attribute in it. Is there any other way, let's say like History table i've created, i make wscNo(primary key for tabel Computer) as a foreign key.Keep TableRow Together
I have a table with 3 tablerows. This 3 tablerows needs to stay together on the same page for each record. Sometime, a function set the Hidden property of one of this tablerow to true, so I cannot just fit the table to get a multiple number of 3.
I use visual studio 2003 to create this rdl.
Thanks,
Marco
Can you restructure your report to have a single table row with a rectangle containing the current three rows of data? By default, SSRS has an implicit keeptogether that attempts to keep containers together when rendering them to a paged format. You can also see books on line for additional pointers:

|||Hi,
Sorry to be long...
So, it don't resolve completly my problem. For now, all lines are grouped, so this part is ok.
I have 5 lines, each have "Can decrease to accommodate contents" checked. So when Hidden property is set to True, there is no blank line.
But, the tablerow seem to have a static Height and no "Can decrease to accommodate contents". What could I do to get one or to simulate one?
Thanks,
Marco
|||Have you thought about using a list rather than a table? The table and matrix controls are just specalized forms of lists. A list would give you the ability to do what you want. I have confirmed that by aligning text boxes to the top of the list and others below, the resulting report will not skip lines for hidden text boxes. Make sure to align the left and right edges as if the text boxes were within a table.

Keep table headers on the page
scroll down the page. I am looking for something like freeze frames in
Excel. Any ideas?There are properties for this.
FixedHeader and RepeatHeaderOnNewPage might do the trick for you.

There is an option called
Header should remain visible while scrolling
When you select it, the header will stay visible ( in html render) while
scrolling..
